Dicots is the abbreviation for Dicotyledon, one of two groups of Flowering Plants or Angiosperms. The word means two cotyledons which can be seen as the first two “seed leaves” produced when the seed germinates. In addition, Dicots have a vascular cambium forming a continuous cylinder around the stem.
Leaves are pinnately or palmately veined with smaller reticulate veins. Flower petals occur in 4’s or 5’s or multiples thereof. The root system is of branched primary roots and is generally not fibrous.
