Grants and Awards from the CSSA

The CSSA offers grants to qualifying members under two programs. Research grants are competitively awarded based on an application process administered by the Research Committee. Grants for laboratory, horticultural and field research in amounts up to $1500 are distributed throughout the year following the recommendations of the Research Committee following a peer review process and a majority vote of the board of directors.

The $2000 Schwartz Travel Grant is awarded annually by random drawing to five CSSA member-applicants and is a great chance to for members to visit distant succulent habitats in Madagascar, India, Africa or South America.

Additionally, a number of other honorary Awards, including the prestigious Fellow Award, are conferred by the Society at conventions and other appropriate occasions. These lists read as a who's who of the succulent plant world.

We also offer an Education Trophy to CSSA affiliates for the purpose of recognizing outstanding acheivements in education.
